An eyeliner tattoo, also known as permanent eyeliner or semi-permanent makeup, is a cosmetic tattoo that involves implanting pigment into the skin to create the look of eyeliner: 
 
Procedure
Technician uses a small tattoo machine with tiny needles to deposit pigment into the top layer of skin on the lash line. The procedure takes about 2 hours. 
 
Styles
Eyeliner tattoos can be applied in a variety of styles, including thin lines, lash enhancements, wings, wedges, or smoky looks. 
 
Pigment
The pigment used is different from body tattoo ink and is designed to fade over time. It's usually a blend of dark brown or black, but can also include color.
 
Results
The results are water-proof and sweat-proof, and typically last 2 years before needing a touch-up.
